Checkmate Alarm ("the app", "we", "us") is a morning alarm app for iPhone where you solve a chess puzzle to turn off your alarm. We built it to respect your privacy. This policy explains what information the app does — and mostly does not — collect.

The short version

• We don't collect personal information.
• Your alarms, puzzle stats, and settings stay on your device.
• No accounts, no ads, no third-party tracking.

Information stored on your device

The app stores the following locally on your iPhone only — it is never uploaded to us or anyone else:

• Your alarms (times, days, sound, difficulty, puzzle type)
• Your puzzle progress (ratings, streaks, solve times, history)
• Your preferences (theme, accent colour, default sound, and similar settings)

This data lives in the app's private on-device storage. Deleting the app removes it. We operate no server and cannot see it.

Permissions we use

• Alarms (AlarmKit): so your alarm can ring even when your iPhone is locked, silent, or in a Focus mode. We use this only to schedule and ring your alarms.

We do not request or access your location, contacts, microphone, camera, photos, health data, or calendar.

Purchases (Checkmate Pro)

Checkmate Pro is an optional subscription sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes your payment — we never receive or store your card details or billing information. To unlock and validate your subscription, we may use a subscription-management service (RevenueCat), which receives a randomly generated, app-specific identifier and basic purchase/device information (such as country, app version, and subscription status). This is used only to manage your subscription and is not used to identify you personally or for advertising.

Analytics and tracking

The app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
