This Privacy Policy explains what data the Globe Trotter iOS app reads from your device, what we (the developer) receive, and what you can control.
The short version: Globe Trotter does not run a server. Your step counts, journey progress, photos, settings, and purchases stay on your device. The only personal data we, the developer, ever see is what Apple shares with us in App Store sales reports (anonymous aggregate metrics), and what RevenueCat needs to verify your subscription receipt.
| Source | What we read | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple HealthKit | Step count and walking + running distance | To advance your virtual journey and show your stats | Stored on your device only. Never transmitted off-device. |
| Location (when in use, optional) | Your approximate location | To set the starting point of your virtual journey on the globe | Stored on your device only. Never transmitted. |
| Photo Library (optional) | A photo you select for a share card | To use as the background of your share image | Stored on your device only. Shared with whichever app you pick in the iOS share sheet. |
| Camera (optional) | A photo you take for a share card | Same as Photo Library | Same as Photo Library. |
| Notifications (optional) | Permission to send local reminders | To nudge you to walk if you've enabled reminders | Local-only — sent by your device, not by us. |
We never request access to your contacts, microphone, calendar, motion (beyond HealthKit), advertising identifier, or any other system data.
We do not operate any servers that receive your data directly from the App. The data the developer can see comes from two places:
Apple provides developers with aggregate, anonymised metrics about App installs, sessions, crash counts, and subscription performance. These metrics cannot be tied back to you as an individual.
If you purchase Globe Trotter Pro, Apple issues a receipt. Our subscription provider RevenueCat validates that receipt with Apple and tells the App whether your Pro entitlement is active. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous device-scoped identifier and the receipt itself — it does not receive your name, email, HealthKit data, location, photos, or journey progress. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
